Domestic violence is a pattern of behaviour which involves violence or other abuse by one person against another in a domestic setting, such as in marriage or cohabitation.
If you find yourself a victim of domestic violence, then you should seek legal advice without delay. We will apply on your behalf for a Non Molestation Order to the Court which has the effect of prohibiting the other party from using violence against you or threatening to use violence against you or from harassing you, pestering you or annoying you. We can also obtain an Occupation Order if you have lived with the other party at your home and this will result in excluding that party from your home allowing you to enjoy peaceable occupation of your home. If an Occupation Order is not the appropriate order then we can seek an Exclusion Zone Order around the area of your property in order to allow you peaceful occupation of your property.
If you require the Court’s protection immediately, then we will arrange to take your application into Court right away without giving notice to the other party concerned.
Your safety and well-being is our main concern. If you are affected by domestic violence, then please contact the office immediately.
